Black Wolf Bulletin
September 20, 2024; Issue 2
Dear Lakeside Families,
Lakeside has been a busy place full of learning over the first few weeks. Our classrooms are buzzing with discussion, hands-on activities, and exploration across subjects, making each day an opportunity for growth.
As always, partners are welcome to visit our school to witness the incredible learning happening firsthand. We also love having volunteers in our building! If you're interested, please fill out the background check form, which can be accessed HERE, and let your child's teacher know about your availability to help out.
We're also thrilled to announce our upcoming Family Night on Tuesday, October 8th, 2024 from 5:00-7:00. This evening will be packed with fun activities designed to encourage learning. We're so excited to kick off The Wild Robot book initiative with all of our families as well. Our entire school community will dive into this heartwarming and thought-provoking story together! The Wild Robot will be distributed at this event with many other similarly themed activities. The PTO will be providing a build-your-own snack mix as a fun treat to pair with all of our learning.
It is a pleasure to serve the Lakeside Community. Wishing you all a wonderful weekend

Fall Family Night, October 8th from 5:00-7:00pm!
Scholastic Book Fair Coming Soon!
The Lakeside PTO is hosting a Scholastic Book Fair that will be held in the Media Center October 7th - 10th. The sale will run during student lunch hours (10:50am - 12:05pm) daily, and also from 5 - 7 pm on October 8th, which is our Fall Family Night.
This year, say goodbye to cash and hello to eWallet - your child's digital payment account. Before the Fair, set up eWallet for worry-free, cash-free purchases. Anyone can contribute! Share each child's eWallet so friends and family can add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy!
If you can't make it to the Fair, then shop at our school's Online Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.
Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping!
Volunteering Reminders
As a reminder, If you are interested in volunteering by helping in your child's classroom or chaperoning a field trip, you must have a pre-approved volunteer application on file before the volunteering event. If you DID NOT fill out a volunteer application last year (23-24) please click HERE to begin the application process. All verified backgrounds checks are good for three years, and are effective for all OASD schools. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our school office at 920.424.0131 or kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
Important!: Once you have completed your application, let the office know so that we can request that the application be processed; this does not happen automatically, and can take up to 48 hours, so please plan accordingly!
Attendance Office InformationAll reports of a student absence must go through the office. If your child(ren) are sick multiple days, please let us know each day they are absent. All communication regarding your student's attendance (appointments, late arrival, early departure, etc.) must go to the office. You can copy in your child's teacher in the email or the office will then pass this information on to the classroom teacher. If you need to call your student(s) in for the day, please call the main office at 920-424-0131. If you need to leave a voicemail, please state your student(s) full name, grade, reason for absence and also any symptoms your student may be experiencing. You can also email the school secretary at: kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us for any absences. If you need to pick up your student early for an any reason, please notify the main office ahead of time, so we can make sure to have your student ready for you. As always, please feel free to reach out to the main office with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for your help.
A Note from the Health OfficeKristin Mike, LPN and Mikaila Peterson, RN

Free Meals for All Lakeside Students!
Lakeside learned just before school started that we have qualified as a Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) school. What does that mean? Every student at Lakeside can receive a free breakfast and a free lunch each school day, regardless of your family's free/reduced application status!
For families who qualify, or think they may qualify, we encourage you to still complete the application! Snack milk (served in the classroom) is not part of the CEP program, so if you don't have an approved application on file, your child's snack milk will still be charged. You can apply in the Parent Portal or Complete the 2024-2025 Application Online! (paper copies are also available in the office)
Please note that milk taken with cold lunch is charged for all students, regardless of their family's free/reduced status.
