Dear Lakeside Families,
We are thrilled to share with you that our school Walk A Thon was a wonderful success! The weather was beautiful and the kids had a blast walking and running with friends! The West High School pep band came and kept us entertained and motivated during the walk. The Van Dyne and Nekimi Fire Departments, along with Pointer, Wylie, and Thunder also came to cheer us on. A huge thank you goes to Mrs. Homman for organizing and leading this great event and fundraiser for our school. We are closing in on our school goal to reach $5,000, but we still need your help! Mr. King is hungry for pie!!
I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to all of you for your partnership during our recent Family-Teacher Conferences. Your commitment to connecting with our teachers and supporting your child’s growth makes a world of difference, and we are so appreciative of your time and dedication. A special thank you goes to our amazing PTO for providing a delicious dinner for our staff during conferences—it was a wonderful gesture that kept everyone energized and ready to meet with families!
Thank you for being such an important part of our school community. Your continued support ensures that Lakeside is a place where students can thrive both inside and outside the classroom. Enjoy your upcoming break.
Lakeside's Walk-A-Thon Deadline Extended - November 21st
The deadline for donations has been extended! Please consider making a donation to the Walk-A-Thon fundraiser before November 21st. 100% of the money collected goes directly to students to pay for things like field trip bussing, classroom supplies, guided reading books, family nights, 5th grade graduation, field day, recess equipment, movie night and much more!
Specialist Updates
Student Council Coordinating a Food Drive
Lakeside Elementary school will be participating in The Mid-Morning Kiwanis boxed/canned food drive which will take place from Monday, December 2nd through Friday, December 6th. Please watch your child's folder for more information that will come home on 11/25. Our food drive will begin right after Thanksgiving break.
If you choose to donate food, please bring it to school and add it to your classroom collection. It must consist of non-perishable food items (Examples: canned fruits, vegetables, soup, pasta, beans, boxed items).
Things that need to be refrigerated, and that will easily go bad (rot/mold) should not be donated. Things like, dairy products, fresh fruits, fresh produce, and frozen food, etc., are all things that will perish easily. Please do not donate any of these items.
Of course you do not have to donate but if you do we thank you for your support and donations!🎉

Lakeside Family Fun at Brighton Acres - December 6th
Lakeside students will be making holiday ornaments that will be used to decorate a holiday tree as part of Brighton Acres' Christmas Village and Craft Fair. We're also inviting our families to join Lakeside staff for some holiday fun at Brighton Acres on Friday, December 6th from 4-8pm. Watch for more information about this fun event!
Brighten Someone's Holiday at Lakeside-
Lakeside's "Brighten Someone's Holiday" is back again this year and located in the main entrance. If you would like to purchase any of the items for this year's selected Lakeside families, please come to the office to select a paper mitten (with an item written on it) from the wall. Please then return the mitten with the gift. This will help with organization of the gifts as they are colored coded for each family. Please have the gifts returned by Monday, December 16th at the latest. Again, there is no obligation, but any help is definitely appreciated! Please contact Mrs. Lubinski with any questions.
Happy Holidays!

We Need Your Help!
It's that time of year when the playground gets extra wet, muddy and snowy at times, and spills can happen any time of the year. We have students coming to the health office every day in need of a change of clothes and we could use your help! How?
- Send your child (even the big ones) to school with an extra change of clothes if you are able. They can live in their backpack, or stay in their locker until needed. We're always the most comfortable in our own clothes, so this is a great option.
- If your child does need to borrow clothes from the office for the day, please wash and return the items as quickly as possible so that they can be available for another student in need.
- Do you have extra pants or shirts that your children have outgrown and can donate to the office? Please send them in! We could use shirts and pants in sizes 5 through 14/16.
If your child has a fall or spill resulting in wet clothes at school and we don't have something they can fit in, we may need to call you to bring some to school to get them through the end of the day. Thanks for your help-we appreciate it!
Volunteering Reminders
As a reminder, if you are interested in volunteering by helping in your child's classroom or chaperoning a field trip, you must have a pre-approved volunteer application on file before the volunteering event. If you DID NOT fill out a volunteer application last year (23-24) please click HERE to begin the application process. All verified backgrounds checks are good for three years, and are effective for all OASD schools. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our school office at 920.424.0131 or kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
Important!: Once you have completed your application, let the office know so that we can request that the application be processed; this does not happen automatically, and can take up to 3-4 business days, so please plan accordingly!
Winter Weather Updates
Students must come to school off of the bus and from drop off prepared to play on the playground. Students will be outside immediately, unless temperatures are below 10 degrees. Please make sure to dress your child with warm winter gear, including jackets, hats, gloves, boots and snow pants (needed to play on the playground equipment and in the field when there is snow).
In the case of inclement weather (rain or temperatures below 10 degrees), students will be inside the building. Students being dropped off can enter Door #11. There will be a supervisor standing near Door #11 to welcome children inside. The first bell rings at 7:40 am. Please have your children to school by 7:40.
Attendance Office InformationAll reports of a student absence must go through the office. If your child(ren) are sick multiple days, please let us know each day they are absent. All communication regarding your student's attendance (appointments, late arrival, early departure, etc.) must go to the office. You can copy in your child's teacher in the email or the office will then pass this information on to the classroom teacher. If you need to call your student(s) in for the day, please call the main office at 920-424-0131. If you need to leave a voicemail, please state your student(s) full name, grade, reason for absence and also any symptoms your student may be experiencing. You can also email the school secretary at: kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us for any absences. If you need to pick up your student early for an any reason, please notify the main office ahead of time, so we can make sure to have your student ready for you. As always, please feel free to reach out to the main office with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for your help.
