Dear Lakeside Families,
As we continue through the school year, we are so grateful for the strong partnerships we have with our families. Your support and communication play a key role in your child's success, and we encourage you to reach out to your child’s teacher with any questions or concerns. Working together, we can ensure that every student feels supported and ready to learn!
Our students are currently working hard toward an all-school celebration through a BINGO board challenge! When the board is completely filled, we will celebrate with a pizza party for lunch! On that day, students will have the option to select Pizza as Option #1 and choose two sides to go along with their meal. Families are still welcome to send a cold lunch if that is preferred. We are excited to see students demonstrating the Lakeside Way and working together to earn this fun reward!
Additionally, we are looking forward to a special event on February 14th—our Interest Hour! To celebrate the end of the semester, students will have the opportunity to participate in invention-themed activities, encouraging creativity, problem-solving, and hands-on learning. It will be a fantastic way for students to engage in new experiences while having fun with their peers.
Thank you for your continued support, and we look forward to an exciting second half of the year!
Sincerely,
Mr. King, Principal

An Important Message From The Nurse
Sick Season is upon us! The health office would like to send a friendly reminder that if your child isn’t feeling well please keep them home to recover. Please reference the guidelines below.
As general guidelines, keep your child home from school if:
- They have a fever above 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit within the past 24 hours
- They have had episodes of vomiting or diarrhea within the past 24 hours
- They have symptoms that prevent them from participating in school.
- They have an undiagnosed rash.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our Health Assistant/ LPN Mrs. Kristin Mike regarding your child’s health needs.
If you are questioning whether your student should be attending school click here for additional guidelines.
FRIENDLY REMINDER: When calling your child's school to report their absence, please relay the symptoms they are having to the school office so that the District can continue to report to the health department accurately.
We Need Your Help!
It's that time of year when the playground gets extra wet and muddy at time, and spills can happen any time of year. Every day we have students coming to the health office in need of a change of clothes, and we could use your help! How?
- Send your child (even the big ones!) to school with an extra change of clothes, if you are able. They can live in their backpack, or stay in their locker until needed. We're always the most comfortable in our own clothes, so this is a great option!
- If your child does need to borrow clothes from the office for a day, please wash and return the items as quickly as possible so that they can be available for another student in need.
- Do you have extra pants or shirts that your children have outgrown and can donate to the office? Please send them in! We could use shirts and pants in sizes 5 through 14/16!
- NEW: We are also in need of any outgrown donated winter gear size 5- 14/16. This includes hats, mittens, snow pants, winter boots, winter waterproof gloves, scarves. Thank you for your help!
- Oh no! Remember spills and accidents can happen! It is helpful to have a change of clothing at school to avoid calling home for extra clothes during the school day.
If your child has a fall or spill resulting in wet clothes at school and we don't have something they can fit in, we may need to call you to bring some to school to get them through the end of the day. Thanks for your help - we appreciate it!
Attendance Office InformationAll reports of a student absence must go through the office. If your child(ren) are sick multiple days, please let us know each day they are absent. All communication regarding your student's attendance (appointments, late arrival, early departure, etc.) must go to the office. You can copy in your child's teacher in the email or the office will then pass this information on to the classroom teacher. If you need to call your student(s) in for the day, please call the main office at 920-424-0131. If you need to leave a voicemail, please state your student(s) full name, grade, reason for absence and also any symptoms your student may be experiencing. You can also email the school secretary at: kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us for any absences. If you need to pick up your student early for an any reason, please notify the main office ahead of time, so we can make sure to have your student ready for you. As always, please feel free to reach out to the main office with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for your help.

Pollution Solution UPDATE:Do you have an overflowing abundance of plastic grocery bags that you don't know what to do with? We have a solution for you! Our students who are in Pollution Solution are working hard to collect 1,000 pounds of plastic bags to be recycled into a Trex Bench for our school. Our new total is 200 pounds! Only 800 pounds more to go. Please read the information below to see how you can help Lakeside achieve this goal. Send in your plastic bags with your child(ren) or drop them off at one of our doors. We are happy to take them off your hands.
Volunteering Reminders
As a reminder, if you are interested in volunteering by helping in your child's classroom or chaperoning a field trip, you must have a pre-approved volunteer application on file before the volunteering event. If you DID NOT fill out a volunteer application last year (23-24) please click HERE. to begin the application process. All verified backgrounds checks are good for three years, and are effective for all OASD schools. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our school office at 920.424.0131 or kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
Important!: Once you have completed your application, let the office know so that we can request that the application be processed; this does not happen automatically, and can take up to 3-4 business days so please plan accordingly!
Has your student lost a jacket, mittens, sweatshirt, etc? Our lost and found is OVERFLOWING! Please have your student check the lost and found. We would like to get these items back to their owners. Any leftover lost and found items will be donated Thank you for your help!
Snow Gear and Winter Playground Reminders
Students should come to school wearing their boots and snow pants, particularly students who are dropped off. Students are not allowed to enter the building to put on their snow gear, so they should be wearing it when they arrive at school.
Also, boots (snow or rain, as the weather dictates) will be required for any of the playground equipment or the grassy areas until late into the spring. Having boots for outside and shoes for inside helps us keep our classrooms clean. If students are not wearing boots, they will have to remain on the blacktop area only. Thank you for your cooperation!
Out of Attendance Area and Open Enrollment Application Information
"Out of Attendance Area" requests are for OASD-resident families who would like to request a school that is NOT their "home school" in the district.
"Open Enrollment" requests are for families residing in the Oshkosh Area School District who are requesting enrollment in a different district.
Information on the application processes for both of these groups for the 2024-2025 school year can be found HERE, along with important deadlines!
Alps Enrollment InformationHello, 3rd and 4th grade families. If you are interested in your child attending ALPs next year, please review the following brochure. Any questions you have can be directed to Tyler Umentum, Principal of Perry Tipler and ALPs.
