Dear Lakeside Families,
Happy New Year! We hope your holidays were filled with joy, and we’re so excited to welcome you back as we begin 2025. This year is full of opportunities for growth, learning, and connection, and we look forward to working together to help our students thrive.
As we dive into the new year, we want to share information about some upcoming assessments and how you can help support your child during this time. These assessments provide valuable insight into each student’s progress and help guide their learning. To set your child up for success, encourage them to get plenty of rest, eat nutritious meals, and talk to them about doing their best.
Here are the upcoming assessment windows:
- Grades K-5: iReady Math and Reading Assessments: January 6-24
- Grades K-3: Act20 Reading Assessments: January 16-31
- Grades 3-5: WI Forward Testing: March 17 through the end of April
We appreciate your partnership in ensuring our students feel prepared and confident. If you have any questions about these assessments, don’t hesitate to reach out to your child’s teacher or our office.
Thank you for your continued support, and here’s to a fantastic year ahead!

Lost & Found
Please have your child check the lost and found table for missing items, or stop in the next time you're at school to take a look! Any items remaining at the end of the month will be donated to a local charity, so be sure to stop in soon!
Yearbook Orders!
Yearbook ordering is available online now! Click HERE to be taken to the prepay link. Yearbooks will be delivered to school sometime in the spring and distributed to the students who ordered. Online ordering is only available for a short time, so act now!
Snow Gear and Winter Playground RemindersStudents should come to school wearing their boots and snow pants, particularly students who are dropped off. Students are not allowed to enter the building to put on their snow gear, so they should be wearing it when they arrive at school.
Also, boots (snow or rain, as the weather dictates) will be required for any of the playground equipment or the grassy areas until late into the spring. Having boots for outside and shoes for inside helps us keep our classrooms clean. If students are not wearing boots, they will have to remain on the blacktop area only. Thank you for your cooperation!
Pollution Solution-We Want Your Plastic BagsDo you have an overflowing abundance of plastic grocery bags that you don't know what to do with? We have a solution for you! Our students in Pollution Solution are working hard to collect 1,000 pounds of plastic bags to be recycled into a Trex Bench for our school. So far we have collected 99 POUNDS of plastic bags! That means we have 901 pounds more to go. Please read the information below to see how you can help Lakeside achieve this goal. Send in your plastic bags with your child(ren) or drop them off at one of our doors. We are happy to take them off your hands.
Volunteering Reminders
As a reminder, if you are interested in volunteering by helping in your child's classroom or chaperoning a field trip, you must have a pre-approved volunteer application on file before the volunteering event. If you DID NOT fill out a volunteer application last year (23-24) please click HERE to begin the application process. All verified backgrounds checks are good for three years, and are effective for all OASD schools. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our school office at 920.424.0131 or kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us
Important!: Once you have completed your application, let the office know so that we can request that the application be processed; this does not happen automatically, and can take up to 3-4 business days, so please plan accordingly!
Attendance Office Information
All reports of a student absence must go through the office. If your child(ren) are sick multiple days, please let us know each day they are absent. All communication regarding your student's attendance (appointments, late arrival, early departure, etc.) must go to the office. You can copy in your child's teacher in the email or the office will then pass this information on to the classroom teacher. If you need to call your student(s) in for the day, please call the main office at 920-424-0131. If you need to leave a voicemail, please state your student(s) full name, grade, reason for absence and also any symptoms your student may be experiencing. You can also email the school secretary at: kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us for any absences. If you need to pick up your student early for an any reason, please notify the main office ahead of time, so we can make sure to have your student ready for you. As always, please feel free to reach out to the main office with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for your help.
