Dear Lakeside Families,

What a fantastic way to kick off the holiday season! Our holiday concert was a huge success, and we couldn't be more proud of our students for their hard work and incredible performances. A big thank you to Ms. Emily Dorr for her leadership and energy, as well as to our amazing staff who helped make this event so special. It was truly a team effort.

As winter settles in, we want to remind families to dress for the weather. Please ensure your child comes to school prepared with cold weather gear, including boots, hats, gloves, snow pants, and a heavy jacket. All students will be outside before school, at recess, and during lunch unless the temperature drops below 10°F or the wind chill is below 0°F.

This holiday season, we’re excited to offer an opportunity to support families in need at Lakeside through our Giving Ornaments, located just inside the front doors. Each ornament represents a specific wish or need, and by choosing one, you can help make the holidays brighter for a Lakeside family. If you so kindly choose one of the ornaments, please return that with your gift so it can go to the correct family. Thank you for your generosity and for helping us spread kindness and joy!

Finally, we hope to see many of you tonight at Brighton Acres for a special event from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. Some of our teachers will be there at various times. Your child(ren)'s ornaments will be displayed on some of the beautifully decorated trees. Don't forget to vote for which tree you like best.

Thank you for your continued support and partnership. Stay warm, and we'll see you soon!

Sincerely,
Ryan King, Principal

Student Council Food Drive- *EXTENDED*

Lakeside Elementary school has been participating in the The Mid-Morning Kiwanis boxed/canned food drive which took place from December 2nd- December 6th.  We have decided to extend it to Monday, December 9th!

The food that is collected through this time period will be donated to the Oshkosh Salvation Army. If you choose to donate food, please bring it to school and add it to your classroom collection. It must consist of non-perishable food items (Examples: canned fruits, vegetables, soup, pasta, beans, boxed items).

Things that need to be refrigerated, and that will easily go bad (rot/mold) should not be donated. Things like, dairy products, fresh fruits, fresh produce, and frozen food, etc., are all things that will perish easily. Please do not donate any of these items.

Of course you do not have to donate but if you do we thank you for your support and donations!🎉

Girls On The Run

Lakeside Girls On The Run wrapped up their season with an incredible 5K. The girls were absolutely amazing and they finished the 5K strong with their STAR POWER! It was an exciting season filled with learning, running (even in the halls), and tons of fun! The girls also completed a community project. They chose to make positive post-it notes for every single student in the school!

Way to use your star power girls!!

Attendance Office Information

All reports of a student absence must go through the office. If your child(ren) are sick multiple days, please let us know each day they are absent.   All communication regarding your student's attendance (appointments, late arrival, early departure, etc.) must go to the office. You can copy in your child's teacher in the email or the office will then pass this information on to the classroom teacher. If you need to call your student(s) in for the day, please call the main office at 920-424-0131. If you need to leave a voicemail, please state your student(s) full name, grade, reason for absence and also any symptoms your student may be experiencing. You can also email the school secretary at: kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us for any absences. If you need to pick up your student early for an any reason, please notify the main office ahead of time, so we can make sure to have your student ready for you. As always, please feel free to reach out to the main office with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for your help.

Volunteering RemindersWhat Volunteer Opportunities are Available? - Ask a Librarian Delaware

As a reminder, if you are interested in volunteering by helping in your child's classroom or chaperoning a field trip, you must have a pre-approved volunteer application on file before the volunteering event. If you DID NOT fill out a volunteer application last year (23-24) please click HERE to begin the application process.  All verified backgrounds checks are good for three years, and are effective for all OASD schools. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our school office at 920.424.0131 or kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us

Important!: Once you have completed your application, let the office know so that we can request that the application be processed; this does not happen automatically, and can take up to 3-4 business, so please plan accordingly!

We Need Your Help!

It's that time of year when the playground gets extra wet and muddy at time, and spills can happen any time of year. Every day we have students coming to the health office in need of a change of clothes, and we could use your help! How?

  • Send your child (even the big ones!) to school with an extra change of clothes, if you are able. They can live in their backpack, or stay in their locker until needed. We're always the most comfortable in our own clothes, so this is a great option!
  • If your child does need to borrow clothes from the office for a day, please wash and return the items as quickly as possible so that they can be available for another student in need.
  • Do you have extra pants or shirts that your children have outgrown and can donate to the office? Please send them in! We could use shirts and pants in sizes 5 through 14/16!
  • NEW: We are also in need of any  outgrown donated winter gear size 5- 14/16. This includes hats, mittens, snow pants, winter boots, winter waterproof gloves, scarves. Thank you for your help!

If your child has a fall or spill resulting in wet clothes at school and we don't have something they can fit in, we may need to call you to bring some to school to get them through the end of the day. Thanks for your help - we appreciate it!

Hello Lakeside families and staff,

It is that time of year where we are growing closer to the holidays, but also seeing an increase of illness throughout the school and community. We want to help you remain HEALTHY and strong to celebrate the holidays with family and friends. The number one way to prevent the spread of illness is with good hand washing!  Below are some other ways we can help minimize the spread of illness in our schools:

  • Teaching and reminding good hand washing to our students/ children
  • Teaching and reminding to cover coughs and sneezes (in your elbow...NOT hands)
  • Utilize a mask IF comfortable, but not required(to protect yourself or others)
  • Sanitizing common and high touch surfaces in your classroom and home routinely
  • Stay home if you have a fever, vomiting/ diarrhea, severe cough, or generally feeling unwell
  • Get plenty of rest and water

Hand Washing Topic is a great link to utilize to help remind ourselves and students/children of good hand washing etiquette! With your help, we can work to keep ourselves and others healthy!
