Dear Lakeside Families,

One of the most important parts of our school community is the partnership we build together. Over the past few months, we’ve worked hard to strengthen communication between home and school so that every family feels informed, included, and supported. Whether it’s through classroom updates, newsletters, family events, or conversations at dismissal, our goal is to create open and ongoing connections that help every child thrive.

As we continue this work, I want to encourage families to reach out directly to teachers and staff whenever questions or concerns arise. They are the best first point of contact and are eager to collaborate with you to support your child’s learning and well-being. Together, we can ensure that each student has what they need to succeed.

Thank you for your continued trust, partnership, and care for our school family.

Sincerely,
Mr. King, Principal

Halloween Costumes at School

Students are welcome to wear costumes to school on Halloween! We love seeing everyone’s creativity and spirit. Please remember that costumes should be school-appropriate and allow students to fully participate in their normal school day — including class, specials, lunch, and recess.

To keep the focus on fun and creativity, please avoid costumes that are violent or scary in nature. Masks, blood, face make-up, and look-alike weapons are not allowed. Thank you for helping us ensure a safe and enjoyable day for everyone!

Volunteering RemindersWhat Volunteer Opportunities are Available? - Ask a Librarian Delaware

If you are interested in volunteering by helping in your child's classroom or chaperoning a field trip, you must have a pre-approved volunteer application on file before the volunteering event. If you HAVE NOT filled out a volunteer application please click HERE to begin the application process. If you are unsure of your volunteer status, please email Kylene Schrage. All verified backgrounds checks are good for three years, and are effective for all OASD schools. If you have any questions about this process, please contact our school office at 920.424.0131 or kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us

Important!: Once you have completed your application, let the office know so that we can request that the application be processed; this does not happen automatically, and can take up to 3-4 business days, so please plan accordingly!

Attendance Office InformationAll reports of a student absence must go through the office. If your child(ren) are sick multiple days, please let us know each day they are absent.   All communication regarding your student's attendance (appointments, late arrival, early departure, etc.) must go to the office. You can copy in your child's teacher in the email or the office will then pass this information on to the classroom teacher. If you need to call your student(s) in for the day, please call the main office at 920-424-0131. If you need to leave a voicemail, please state your student(s) full name, grade, reason for absence and also any symptoms your student may be experiencing. You can also email the school secretary at: kylene.schrage@oshkosh.k12.wi.us for any absences. If you need to pick up your student early for an any reason, please notify the main office ahead of time, so we can make sure to have your student ready for you. As always, please feel free to reach out to the main office with any questions or concerns you may have. Thank you for your help.

Pollution Solution

Lakeside Elementary is partnering with NexTrex again this year. Information was sent home last week in folders. Our goal is to collect 1,000 lbs of plastic to receive a NexTrex bench. Anyone and everyone can donate plastic. The Pollution Solution Club is open to 4th and 5th grade students that will be weighing all the plastic each week and will be keeping everyone updated on our achievements towards the recycling goal. We have until April 2026 to reach our goal. You can drop off your plastic at Lakeside Elementary by door #11 or send with your child/ren. One NexTrex recycling bin is located inside door #11 and the other bin is located by the kitchen.

If you have any questions please email me at:
