COVID-19 Response Team @ Lakeside Elementary

Dear Lakeside Families,

I hope your family is doing well. We celebrated International Dot Day here at Lakeside this week. Dot Day was created by author Peter Reynolds, who has written and illustrated many children's books. His message in the book The Dot, which inspired Dot Day, is for kids to develop a growth mindset, push yourself to learn and grow, and be creative. If you haven't read The Dot yet, visit the Oshkosh Public Library to check it out, as well as the many other books written by Peter Reynolds.

Our first PTO meeting of the year will be held virtually via Zoom on Monday, September 20 at 6pm. Please see the agenda linked here. We hope that many parents can join us to discuss what our PTO supports at Lakeside, upcoming events, and how you can become more involved in our school. We will also discuss our first Family Night which is scheduled for October!

Finally, thank you for getting your child to school by 7:40am daily. We appreciate starting the day with all students in the classroom so that we can unite together as a school family and start Meet Ups, a time where students connect with their teacher and each other and learn about social/emotional learning.

Wishing you well,

~Mrs. Ashton

Picture Day

Lakeside's picture day will be on Wednesday, September 22nd. Order forms came home with your student(s) last week. You can also use the online order form available HERE. Ordering online is the best option as it prevents students from transporting cash and checks or misplacing order forms.

Staff Member: Jen Lubinski

Role at Lakeside: School Counselor

Teaching Experience: Prior to coming to Lakeside, I was a Certified Parent Coach and provided in-home and virtual parent education to support families. My role was to help families improve relationships and create stability for those who are coping with the effects of trauma, including those who have children with autism, ADHD, giftedness, involvement with the law, oppositional defiant disorder, and other mental health concerns. I also worked as a Case Manager for Waupaca County. In that position, I had many different roles such as supporting families in creating positive parent-child relationships, promoting healthy social-emotional development, connecting families to resources, providing crisis support, facilitating groups, and engaging in youth suicide prevention work. I have additional experience as a school counselor at a private (k-12) school and in supporting children who are receiving special education services.

Family/Hobbies/Highlights to share: My husband and I have three children - two boys and one girl (ages 16, 14, and 12).  Our family also includes two dogs and a cat. We love to travel and explore the outdoors.  My favorite outside activities are hiking, running, and kayaking. I also enjoy reading, watching movies, and hanging out with friends and family. I am so excited to be a part of the Lakeside school family!!
