COVID-19 Response Team @ Lakeside Elementary

Dear Lakeside Families,

I hope you and your family are doing well! Semester 1 is now complete and report cards are on their way to your homes. Please take some time to review your child's report card with your child. Here are some questions that may help guide your conversation at home:

  • How do you think your year has been going so far?
  • What are you proud of?
  • What do you think your greatest strength as a learner is? Why do you think so?
  • What do you think is the most challenging part of your school day? Why?
  • Is there anything you want to change or improve in second semester? How do you think you'll do it?

There are two ways of thinking about problems, using a fixed mindset or a growth mindset. In a fixed mindset, the belief is that this is the way that things are and there is not much that you can do about it. In a growth mindset, the belief is that setbacks or challenges are learning opportunities and you can grow from them. Talk to your child about having a growth mindset and give an example where you used a growth mindset when faced with a challenge.

Make sure to celebrate your child's efforts! We are proud of all of our Lakeside learners! Each day, learners are growing in their social/emotional and academic learning! We look forward to another semester of learning and growing together.

Sincerely,
Mrs. Ashton, Principal

Mid-Year Conferences - January 25th

Parent/teacher conferences will be held January 25th at Lakeside from 3:15 - 6:30pm. If you received a personalized email invitation for your child on January 10th, then your teacher has requested a conference with you. If you only received the more general email about conferences that was sent this week, then your teacher has not specifically requested a conference with you at this time; however, you are still able to sign up for one if you would like. Please click HERE for the scheduler link and instructions, or call the office for help!

Yearbook Orders Due February 28th

Click HERE to order your 2021-2022 yearbook! You can order yearbooks through February 28th. They will be delivered to the school and distributed later in the year to all who ordered.

Trex Recycling Challenge

Lakeside Student Council is taking on the Trex plastic film recycling program. As a Lakeside community, we are looking forward to seeing how much we can recycle between now and April 22, 2022. We are competing among schools in our region for a chance to win a bench made from recycled plastic. Student Council members will be weighing the plastic once the bins are filled and then we will be taking it to one of the locations that are accepting these for recycling. There are 3 recycling bins that will be placed within the school where your child will be able to drop plastic into. If you work at a location that throws plastic out and they are fine with you taking it off their hands, feel free to save it and bring it to school. If you have large bags full, please let Mrs. Wilcox know (kristalee.wilcox@oshkosh.k12.wi.us) and she will arrange a time to get it from you.

On behalf of the Student Council, we would like to thank you for your participation and we look forward to seeing how much plastic we can collect!
