Black Wolf Bulletin
May 27, 2022; Issue 18
Dear Lakeside Families,
This is the last school newsletter of the year- unbelievable!! We hope your child(ren) have had a great year and you have been able to see their growth- academically, socially, and emotionally. We had a successful Kona Ice celebration day earlier this week to recognize students for showing the Lakeside Way: respectful, responsible, safe behavior! This year, over 97% of our students have had 0 or 1 office discipline referrals. That is phenomenal! We continue to work hard at practicing kindness and having a safe, inclusive environment for all students. Thank you for continuing to talk to your children about these important life skills at home too!
Next Thursday is the last day of school. The 5th grade promotion ceremony and DARE graduation is at 9:00 am on Thursday morning. Fifth grade families are welcome to attend! Please check in early at the office (Door #1) and bring your driver's license for our new check in system for volunteers/visitors. Fifth graders and families, we will miss you next year! Students, your collective leadership capacity, kindness toward others, and hard working spirit will be remembered!
Field Day events will take place next Thursday afternoon beginning at 12:30 pm. Parents need to check in at the office if they are attending or volunteering at this event. Please use the PTO's sign up genius website if you'd like to contribute/volunteer this day!
We have a few staff members that are retiring at the end of this school year. Please have your children join us in celebrating Mrs. Jari on Tuesday, May 31 by wearing her favorite color, purple! We will then celebrate Mrs. Grasley on Wednesday, June 1 by wearing her favorite color, red! Here is a little more information about our retirees:
- Mrs. Jari has served students in Oshkosh for the past 31 years. She has been a first grade teacher at Lakeside for the last six years. Prior to that, Mrs. Jari served for 25 years at Merrill Elementary and as the District’s first English language teacher. Mrs. Jari is known for having high expectations, getting to know her learners as individuals, and tirelessly working with individuals and small groups to ensure all children grow!
- Mrs. Grasley has served students exclusively at Lakeside for the past 30 years. Mrs. Grasley has a deep-rooted connection to the school and Town of Black Wolf community, her father attended school at Lakeside, Mrs. Grasley attended school at Lakeside, and her children attended school at Lakeside! She also lives across the street from school! Mrs. Grasley was instrumental in efforts to create, revise, and update the mission statement of our school over her many years at Lakeside. She will be remembered for her creativity and her traditions with students, and hard working, dedication to our school.
- Mrs. Murphy has served students at Lakeside in second and third grade for the past three years. Prior to that, she taught in Sheboygan as a classroom teacher and before that was a part-time reading interventionist. Mrs. Murphy’s appreciation for health and wellness is something she will be remembered for!
As we wrap up this year, I am incredibly thankful for the opportunity to serve your children, your family, and the staff here at Lakeside. This is a special place and I look forward to seeing so many of you next year!

LIMITED LUNCH SERVICE AT THE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS are used when a student is very negative in their lunch account and the family has been notified by Food Service that service will cease if the account isn’t brought current. If the student doesn’t bring a sack lunch or cash to pay for the lunch the Food Service Department will allow the student to eat a limited lunch. The limited lunch will consist of 2 pieces of bread and a peanut butter cup (as the entrée) and then will be allowed to have the fruit, veggies and milk offered and the account will get charged accordingly for the limited lunch. They will NOT be able to have their choice of an entrée.
HAVE LUNCH WITH YOUR CHILD All Elementary Schools and the Food Services Department invites parents of school-age children to have lunch with their child any school day. Please let the school office know in advance so we can make sure a lunch gets ordered for you. You may bring money with you to pay for the meal or the adult lunch can be charged to your students Food Service Account.

Our annual field day event will be held in the afternoon on the last day of school, Thursday, June 2nd. Students travel with their classroom from station to station doing various fun activities that are planned and provided by our wonderful PTO. If you're able to help with donations and/or volunteering, please check out the PTO's SignUpGenius.
The event begins at 12:30pm and will run until approximately 2:30pm. Please be sure to send a water bottle with your child, and consider applying sunscreen before school. Weather permitting, they will be outdoors for the entire afternoon.
Parents are welcome to come join in the fun! Stop by the office to check in and get a visitor's badge (don't forget your photo ID if you haven't yet been "Raptored").
Coming to School for End-of-Year Events?
