Black Wolf Bulletin
May 13, 2022; Issue 17
Dear Lakeside Families,
It's hard to believe that we are just three weeks away from the year ending. We love to see our families in person during our end of the year events, especially Field Day, on the last day of school. Field Day is run by our PTO and PE teacher, Mrs. Homman. There are opportunities to volunteer and support this event. Please use this link to sign up: https://bit.ly/
For the last day of school, the lunch menu has been changed for Lakeside. Instead of having popcorn chicken, Food Service will have a hot dog, carrots, broccoli, an apple, and a cookie. We anticipate most students will want hot lunch on the last day, but will be sending an opt-out of lunch form home for your family to fill out if you are choosing to bring a lunch instead. If you'd like to send a lunch, please return the slip by Wednesday, May 18th, or email the office to let us know! This will help Food Service plan for the number of special Lakeside lunches needed on the last day.
Our last PTO meeting of the year was Monday. I want to thank Lori Moen, who has served as president for the past few years and Annie Majorowicz, who has served as secretary for the past few years. Both ladies have been invaluable to our school community! Thank you Lori and Annie for your service! In addition, I want to thank Kimmie Martin for serving as vice president this year and ElizaBeth Chase as treasurer; we appreciate all of their hard work as well! New PTO leadership has been determined for next year. We are excited to welcome co-presidents Kari Zabel and Terri Oesterreich, vice president Andrea Schneider, secretary Stephanie Homman and treasurer ElizaBeth Chase. These ladies will help us plan another great year of opportunities for next year's students and families!
Finally, our coin war will be extended until Tuesday, May 17. All coins and dollars collected will go toward our new school playground!
Have a wonderful weekend!

Raptor Reminder for End-of-the-Year Events
Lakeside's annual end-of-the-year events are just around the corner! If you are planning to come to school for the kindergarten Teddy Bear Picnic, the 5th Grade Promotion Ceremony and/or our Field Day, please remember that we have a new visitor system, known as Raptor. If you have not yet visited the school this year, please be sure to bring your photo ID and plan a few extra minutes to get checked in. Once your ID has been scanned, you won't need to bring it for future trips to the school (Lakeside or any other OASD school).
If you have already provided your ID to be "Raptored" (at Lakeside or any other OASD school), you will be in our system. If you are, feel free to email or call ahead to let the office know you're coming and we will have your visitor badge printed out and ready to go!

Coin Wars Continue!
Because we had two classrooms that went virtual this week, Student Council has decided to extend the coin war through Tuesday, May 17th. The rules for next week will also change so that coins AND bills count as positive for a classroom. There will be a prize for the top earning classroom! Funds raised will go toward the playground project.
Yearbooks Available
If your family forgot to order a yearbook but you still want one, you're in luck! We have a few available in the office for purchase on a first come, first served basis. They are $12.25 each, and please note that we are unable to make change. Make checks payable to Lakeside Elementary, or send exact change with your child. If you ordered a yearbook for your family, these will be given to students by their teachers over the next couple of weeks.
Grant from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation
Lakeside recently received a generous grant from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation, made possible with support from the Mildred M. and Edward W. Baar Youth and Education Fund. These funds were used during our recent book fair to provide books for students. Lakeside is so grateful for the generosity and continued support from the Oshkosh Area Community Foundation!
