Dear Lakeside Families,

The first week of February has already been a whirlwind of excitement here at Lakeside! We had a great World Read Aloud Day challenge on Wednesday and learned a lot about great books to read aloud and share with each other. Please see our school Facebook page for a few pictures of the learning taking place and ask your child about World Read Aloud Day.

We had our monthly school community meeting this morning. Everyone was very excited because today is our special celebration field trip to the YMCA. I explained to students that we are taking this trip to celebrate all the hard work and learning happening daily in classrooms. Our students are engaged in growing academically, as well as socially, emotionally, and overall we are seeing great outcomes in our data sources for academics and behavior! The students wouldn't be successful without the hard work and dedication of Lakeside teachers! We are so fortunate!! Please continue asking your child how they are learning and growing- they should have a lot to say!

I value the relationships and communication I have with Lakeside families and would appreciate your thoughts on my leadership. Please take a couple of minutes to respond to these brief survey questions about my leadership. As always, if I can do anything more to support you or your child(ren), please reach out!

Enjoy the weekend ahead! Go Lakeside!

~Mrs. Ashton

Please remember to send your children to school with warm clothes for inclement weather. This should include boots, hats, gloves, and a heavy jacket. All students will be outside before school, at recess, and lunch unless the temperature is below 10 degrees or a wind chill of below zero.

Temperatures and appropriate outside recess wear is:

  • Below 50 degrees- students need a coat

  • Between 50-60 degrees- students need to wear long sleeves

  • 61 degrees and above- students choice (shorts are allowed)

OFFICE NOTES:

  • If you are planning a vacation (half day or more), please remember to fill out a Pre-Planned Parent Excused Form prior to leaving. It is important for students, teachers, and the office to be informed of the absence to allow for homework accommodations, missed class time, and attendance purposes. Also, this minimizes classroom interruptions during the day to allow for focusing on educational minutes. If you have any questions, please call the office at 424-0131. Paper copy is available upon request.

  • Please let the office know if you are not receiving the school newsletter via email and if you’d like to! Paper copies are provided by parent request only.
