What is Out of Attendance Area Enrollment?
The Oshkosh Area School District allows parents of resident students to request attendance at a school other than their home school in the district.
Who can apply?
Any Oshkosh resident in 4K to grade 12 may apply to attend a different school in the Oshkosh Area School District. All requests will be handled administratively following district policy, including compliance with W.I.A.A. rules, when appropriate.
When can parents apply?
Applications should be submitted by the last Friday in February for the following school year and parents will be notified if their request is approved or denied by the end of April. Any requests received after the last Friday in February may be held for review until after the district-wide registration days in August.
How can parents apply?
Application forms with district guidelines are available at the following links:
Forms are also available at school sites or at the Administration Office at 215 South Eagle Street.
The Oshkosh Area School District requires a form filled out for Primary/Secondary Household change. This can be supported by legal documentation, and requires signatures of both parents. The Oshkosh Area School District will verify with both parents the change requested. Please see link below for the form. This can be turned into your child's school secretary.
Foreign Exchange Student Enrollment
Sponsoring foreign exchange organizations may apply for J-1 Visa students to attend either Oshkosh Area School District high school. Each high school will accept up to 5 foreign exchange students per school year following district policy. Applications can be found at the following link Foreign Exchange Student Enrollment Form and will be accepted until the positions have been filled. All applications should be submitted to the Administration Office at 215 South Eagle Street.
What is Open Enrollment?

Who can apply?
Any Wisconsin resident in 4K to grade 12 may apply to attend a nonresident school district under the open enrollment program. However, a child may transfer to a nonresident school district for early childhood education or 4K only if the child’s resident school district offers the same type of program and only if the child is eligible for that program in the resident school district.
When can parents apply?
The regular open enrollment application period for the 2019-20 school year begins on February 7, 2020, and ends at 4:00 pm on April 30, 2020. The best way to apply is online using the following link: https://dpi.wi.gov/open-enrollment
Families who need assistance or are unable to complete the online registration process are invited to attend the OASD’s Centralized Registration. The District will be hosting in-person registration opportunities for all grade levels at Oshkosh North and Oshkosh West high schools. This Centralized Registration will replace registration events previously held at individual OASD schools. The OASD’s 2020 Centralized Registration dates and locations are to be determined soon.
2020-2021 OASD Centralized Registration Information Coming Soon
Understanding Centralized Registration
Centralized Registration aims to provide an improved registration experience for OASD families, who are unable to complete the process online or who are in need of assistance. Computers and OASD staff will be available to help families complete the required online registration process, and translators will be available to assist and work with families. Additionally, OASD staff members will be available to answer questions, assist families that wish to pay student fees in person, and assist families in completing Free and Reduced-price Meal Applications. Families that need to complete the registration process are welcome to attend any of the Centralized Registration options. However, if your schedule allows, it is recommended that you attend the option that aligns with your child’s school. For example, if your child is attending a Northside school, you are encouraged to attend a Northside Centralized Registration date.
During Centralized Registration, parents and guardians can:
- Complete the required online registration process
- Accessing your Parent Portal
- Meet with translators
- Get information about the District’s food service program, and complete the Free and Reduced-price Meal Application
- Pay fees and fines
- Get information about after school care
- Get information about special education and pupil services
- Get information about the District’s 4K program
- Get parking passes (high school students only)
- Print student schedules (available via the Infinite Campus Parent and Student Portal)
